October Updates

October 13, 2007

People’s Television will be teaming up with Active Voice, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that brings together filmmakers, key stakeholders and issue experts to develop strategies to maximize the impact of a film. This fall, we will be holding a ‘braintrust’ meeting in Washington, DC to explore La Americana’s potential to reach “beyond the choir” and encourage people outside of the immigrants’ rights community to consider immigration policy reform through a new lens. The meeting will inform the development of a nationwide strategy to prompt people across America – from human rights advocates to policymakers to families employing undocumented workers – to reconsider the implications of our immigration ‘crisis’.

We have also just begun production on The Grey Movie, a documentary short about The Organization, a group of young radicals in New York City, and their response to the outbreak of the war in Iraq. The Grey Movie will be our first high definition production, funded by the Reach Film Fellowship we were awarded last month.
