La Americana at Big Sky

February 17, 2008

The snow-capped mountains and bustling bistro-laden downtown of Missoula, Montana set the scene for the 5th annual Big Sky Documentary Film Festival where People’s Television presented a sneak peak of La Americana.

Playing to its largest audience to date, La Americana received a heap of praise and positive feedback from an audience emotionally moved by the story of Carmen and Carla.

Festival Programmer Jenny Rohrer began the Q&A by saying, “This is the second time I’ve seen this film, and this is the second time it’s made me cry.”

q&a

Filmmakers John Mattiuzzi, Jesse Thomas, and Nicholas Bruckman fielded a bevy of questions during a Q&A that went over time and spilled out onto the sidewalk outside of the theater. Many of the questions asked had the same theme, “how can I help?”. This left the People’s TV crew encouraged that their project is achieving one of its main objectives, raising awareness about the plight that many undocumented immigrants face, and agitating audiences into trying to make a difference.

We at PTV would like to thank Big Sky for hosting our Sneak Preview and organizing an all around stellar festival!
