“The Grey Movie” premieres atop the New York skyline at the Grammercy

March 23, 2008 by

On the evening of March 19th, Nicholas Bruckman, Jordan Forkey, Justin Thomas, and Rob Pappadake were on hand to witness the unveiling of their documentary short, The Grey Movie, at the first annual Cinereach Reach Film Fellowship award ceremony for aspiring filmmakers. The gala was held on the roof of the legendary Grammercy Park Hotel in downtown Manhattan, and was host to a slew of industry insiders and filmmakers, including host Mira Nair (The Namesake), Academy Award-nominee Rachel Grady (Jesus Camp), and Sandi Dubowski (Trembling Before G-d).

The People’s Television crew wined and dined among the crowd and got an overall positive reaction to the film, which fatefully had its world premiere on the exact day of the fifth anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq in March of 2003. The significance of this irony was not lost on the crowd, and as this tragic war continues to devastate and destroy lives, plans to move ahead and create a full-length version of this current documentary short are on the horizon. Further updates on the status of the film’s continuing evolution will be made available in the coming months as this story continues to unfold.
