Nicholas Bruckman: Director/Producer

Nicholas Bruckman is producer and director of “La Americana,” a feature documentary following an undocumented immigrant’s journey across borders to save her ailing daughter. La Americana won 7 awards at over 30 film festivals, and received funding from the Fledgling Fund and NYSCA for its national audience engagement campaign for immigrant rights. Nicholas’ production credits include “Bronx Princess” (POV 2009) and “The New Recruits” (PBS 2010). He has directed short documentaries on topics ranging from the conflict in Kashmir to high-school revolutionaries in the U.S. Nicholas works as a producer for Ironbound Films, and directs corporate documentary projects around the world for Fortune 100 and nonprofit clients.

John Mattiuzzi: Co-Director

Prior to working in film, John Mattiuzzi, a NY graffitti artist, could be found scaling building tops and cruising train yards in search of the perfect canvas. In 2005, after receiving his BFA at SUNY Purchase, John moved to Mexico for a year and volunteered as an English Professor at the Universidad Tecnologica Tula-Tepeji. In the summer of 2006, he joined the People’s Television team in Bolivia as Writer, Director of Photography, and Supervising Editor of La Americana. Recently, John’s mural “A City of Heroes” was on exhibition in “9/11: A Nation Remembers” in Philadelphia. He is the Director of Photography on the upcoming People’s Television documentary “The Grey Movie”.

Jesse Thomas: Co-Producer

Jesse Thomas’ video production work has taken him to three continents and put him in rooms with everyone from leading intellectuals to Kashmiri separatists. He co-founded People’s Television as a means to bring true personal stories to the forefront of hot button political issues. He graduated from Purchase College in 2006 where he studied Political Science and Economics and immediately began work on “La Americana.” In 2007 he joined Barack Obama’s Presidential Campaign in New Hampshire and currently serves in the Obama Administration at the United States Department of Commerce.
